Committees

Committees are the heart of GGFYP’s governance and operations. Board members and committee chairs are elected positions, but anyone can join a committee or more than one, if the volunteer bug has bit you hard.

Generally speaking, Committee Meetings fall on the…
First Wednesday: Social Committee (Noon)
Second Monday: Marketing Committee (Noon)
Second Thursday: Board of Directors (11:45-1pm)
Third Wednesday: Professional Development Committee (1pm)
Fourth Tuesday: Community Involvement Committee (Noon)
Last Thursday: Programs Meeting (4pm)

*However, these are subject to change!*

Board of Directors
Board members determine the direction of the organization and control its purse-strings. Nine voting members, committee chairpersons among them, and an ex officio legal representative are elected by the GGFYP membership once a year. For more information on our board, head over to the Director’s page.

Community Involvement
If you’re looking to roll up your sleeves and get to know your community through events, Community Involvement will hook you up. This committee focuses on events like ArtSee, the Iceman Triathilon, Lunch-n-Learn, parades, and more!

Marketing Committee
When other committees need to get the word out about their activities, they turn to this committee. Marketing runs GGFYP.com, provides a presence on Facebook, sends out e-mails to members and advertise special events. If you have a talent for written and visual communication, Marketing could use you. For more information email Lisa Martinez.

Professional Development Committee
Like the old Army ads said, Professional Development helps you to “be all you can be.” This committee arranges seminars, workshops and classes that cover a variety of professional topics, from branding yourself to leadership. They are currently working on building internships in the Grand Forks Area and awarding businesses for being “best places for Young Professionals to work”- the Grow Grand Award. For more information email Matt Huss.

Programs Committee
This committee is responsible for  interacting with other organizations in the committee. Programs’ signature event is the Executive Briefings, an ongoing series of Q&A sessions with different business leaders in the region in a small setting. They also work on our Annual Launch part and YP of the year award. For more information email Josh Brown.

Social Committee
Social is how GGFYP came to be. We started out with the goal of helping our members network and this remains an important mission. Social organizes the annual UND hockey game, tailgating, a summer golf tournament, new member meals, and other fun activities to help our members meet each other. For more information email Stacey Heggen.
